Overview
This seven-day fly-in safari pairs two of Kenya’s most rewarding wildlife areas. After a night beside Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a light aircraft carries you north to Ol Pejeta Conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau, where Porini Rhino Camp puts you among black and white rhino, then south west to a private conservancy bordering the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Both camps are small, eco-conscious and run on an all-inclusive game package, so the days are shaped around wildlife rather than logistics: day and night drives, guided walks with Maasai guides, and time at the chimpanzee sanctuary on Ol Pejeta. In the Mara, Porini Lion Camp sits in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, one of the Maasai Mara Conservancies, where vehicle numbers are capped and the big cats are the headline.
From July to October the Great Migration may be moving through the wider Mara ecosystem, adding the herds and river crossings to a trip already strong on the Big Five.
Who it suits
A first Kenya safari for travellers who want the Big Five, rhino in particular, without long road transfers. A week is enough for both regions, and the conservancy setting keeps game viewing uncrowded.
