The Serengeti is synonymous with African safari and for good reason. This vast expanse of grassland savanna woodland and riverine forest in northern Tanzania hosts the annual Great Migration of over two million wildebeest accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebra and gazelle. The park’s predator density is among the highest in Africa with large prides of lion, abundant cheetah on the open plains, and leopard in the kopjes and riverine areas. The Serengeti ecosystem extends beyond the park boundaries into Kenya’s Masai Mara creating one continuous wildlife corridor. Different regions of the park offer distinct experiences — the central Seronera valley for year-round game viewing, the western corridor for river crossings, and the northern Serengeti for dramatic Mara River crossings from July to October.
