Hlane Royal National Park is Eswatini’s largest protected area covering over 22000 hectares of bushveld in the northeast lowveld. Historically a royal hunting ground for the Swazi monarchy the park was formally proclaimed in 1967 and now supports a diverse array of wildlife including white rhino, elephant, lion, giraffe, and a variety of antelope. The Ndlovu camp area is the heart of the park where a large waterhole attracts regular visits from elephant herds and white rhino while the lion enclosure offers close encounters with the park’s predators. Hlane is known for its excellent birding with over 350 species recorded including nesting colonies of white-backed vulture and marabou stork. Game drives and guided walks provide accessible safari experiences at a fraction of the cost of neighbouring South African reserves. The park offers a genuine Big Game experience in a compact and affordable package.
