Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 36000-hectare wildlife conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau in central Kenya that has become one of the most important conservation sites in Africa. The conservancy is home to the last two surviving northern white rhinos on Earth — Najin and Fatu — housed in a dedicated sanctuary and the subject of pioneering assisted reproduction research. Beyond this global significance Ol Pejeta supports the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa with over 150 individuals. The conservancy is a Big Five destination with excellent populations of lion, elephant, buffalo, and leopard alongside a chimpanzee sanctuary — the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees. The Sweetwaters Serena Camp sits within the conservancy and the overnight hide at the waterhole offers remarkable nocturnal wildlife encounters. Ol Pejeta’s innovative approach combining tourism, conservation, and community development has made it a model for wildlife protection across Africa.
