Mana Pools National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most extraordinary wilderness areas. Situated on the southern bank of the Zambezi River in northern Zimbabwe, the park is named for the four large pools formed by the meandering river — mana means four in Shona. The park is renowned for its walking safaris which are considered among the finest in Africa with experienced guides leading visitors on foot among elephant, buffalo, and predators. The Zambezi provides opportunities for canoe safaris — a unique way to experience wildlife from river level with hippos and crocodiles for company. Mana Pools’ albida woodland creates an open park-like landscape that is extraordinarily beautiful and allows exceptional visibility for wildlife photography. The park’s remoteness ensures low visitor numbers creating an exclusive and intimate wilderness experience.
